Frequently Asked Questions
What is Tocotrienols?
Tocotrienols are a type of vitamin E, which is a group of fat-soluble compounds with antioxidant properties. Vitamin E exists in two main forms: tocopherols and tocotrienols.
Why is Tocotrienols better than Tocopherols?
Vitamin E is the best lipid antioxidant as your cell membrane is made of fat. However most 'Vitamin E – Tocopherol' on the market is alpha-Tocopherol which research shows is not the most bioavailable form. Tocopherols often fail to improve cholesterol levels and in some cases worsen them. When co-administered, they can even interfere with the cholesterol-lowering action of tocotrienols, limiting their benefits. Alpha-tocopherols have also been found to increase blood pressure, serum cholesterol levels, including oxidized LDL cholesterol and moreover increase risks to certain ailments.
Is Tocotrienols the same as Vitamin E?
Tocotrienols are the next generation of Vitamin E and are 50 times more effective at protecting cell membranes than the alpha-tocopherol found in most Vitamin E.
Why is Tocotrienols better than Vitamin E?
Tocotrienols is 50x times better than tocopherol at recruiting and protecting the cells, and it has increased bio-availability for quicker effectiveness. Tocotrienols supports regressions in the arteries as a result of plaque buildup and it may improve arterial function by reducing blood pressure. Tocotrienols also plays a role in combating inflammation. Its photoprotective attributes can contribute to great skin.
What is Tocotrienols made from?
Our Tocotrienols is extracted from the Annatto Bean and contains 90% Delta-Tocotrienol and 10% Gamma-Tocotrienol.
Why are Tocotrienols good for health?
Heart disease is often caused by high cholesterol. But surprisingly, half of patients who have heart attacks have normal cholesterol levels. For these individuals, inflammation plays a role in furthering cardiovascular disease progression. Numerous studies have seen up to 40% inflammation reduction in hypercholesterolemic patients using tocotrienol supplementation. Tocotrienols also have antioxidant properties, which means they help neutralize free radicals in the body that can cause cellular damage. Some studies suggest that tocotrienols may have benefits for cardiovascular health, including potential effects on cholesterol levels and blood vessel function. Some research also indicates that tocotrienols may have neuroprotective properties, potentially supporting brain health and protecting against neurodegenerative diseases. Tocotrienols have been studied for their anti-inflammatory effects, which may be beneficial in addressing chronic inflammatory conditions. There is also some research that suggests that tocotrienols may contribute to skin health by protecting against UV damage and supporting collagen production.
What makes the Youth & Earth Tocotrienols unique?
Tocotrienols can be found in palm and rice, however our Tocotrienols comes from seeds of the Achiote plant, known as annatto. Since its discovery, annatto tocotrienol has been praised for the absence of tocopherols in its make-up as many studies have shown they interfere with the functions and benefits of tocotrienols. Unlike Tocopherol – Vitamin E, pure Tocotrienols are hard to find a high dose of, and its the delta and gamma tocotrienols that are so effective at protecting the body. Our formula is tocopherol-free, unlike many other vitamin E products, and it has been third-party tested to validate the tocotrienol content.
What foods contain Tocotrienols?
Some food sources that contain Tocotrienols are annatto seeds, corn and oat products, certain nuts and seeds such as pistachios and flaxseeds, rice bran, barley and wheat germ, and palm oil. However, the levels of tocotrienols in these foods can vary, and the overall intake from a typical diet may not be as high as that contained in our Tocotrienols supplement.
